Analysis of Spatial Data and Spatial Modelling in Natural Forest Research

We are looking for a specialist in spatial modelling, geostatistics, and GIS for advanced spatial analysis, modelling, and visualization of spatial data within the research of natural forests in the Czech Republic, Europe, and globally.

Contract Type:

Full-time employment contract for a fixed term

Duration:

2 years, with the possibility of extension based on performance

Location:

Brno (CZ), Lidická Street, with the possibility of partial home office

Requirements:

• Ability to perform advanced analyses and modelling of spatial data
• Knowledge of programming languages such as R, Python, or potentially JavaScript, Matlab, etc.;
• Experience with Remote Sensing/ image processing software and GIS (ArcGIS/QGIS, IDRISI/ ERDAS, Google Earth Engine)
• Experience with spatial soil science (geostatistics, pedometrics)
• Independence, responsibility, and willingness to learn
• Active knowledge of English
• Good communication skills and ability to work in a team
• University degree in geoinformatics, IT, pedology, geography, or a related field

Key Tasks:

• Modelling spatial data in the area of soil property variability and diversity and other natural resources
• Synthesizing spatial data from many sources at the landscape and national level
• Analyzing spatial relationships between trees, soil, topographic, and climatic environmental characteristics
• Digital soil mapping
