Position of Researcher in Remote Sensing with applications to Landscape Ecology

Department of Landscape Ecology

 

The Silva Tarouca Research Institute for Landscape and Ornamental Gardening

Workplace: Brno, Czech Republic

 

Contractual relationship: Full-time or part-time employment contract for a fixed period

Term:2 years with immediate start (or by agreement)

Salary: Salary according to the valid wage regulation of the organization

Location: Lidická Street, Brno, Czech Republic

 

Qualifications:

  • A PhD in relevant Science and Engineering fields (including but not limited to Earth Sciences, Computer Science and Engineering, Geography, Remote Sensing, Landscape Ecology, Agriculture or Forestry, Soil Science) with demonstrated prior experience in remote sensing and landscape ecology;
  • Organizational and collaborative skills;
  • Good oral and written communication skills in English are expected.
  • Be familiar with current software tools used in remote sensing and statistical software.
  • Experience with leading national research projects, being involved in international projects.

 

Advantages:

  • Speak/write any other language next to English (Spanish/French/German).
  • Research experience in remote / proximal sensing of soil properties.
  • Proficiency in Python and R, other software for aerial/satellite image processing.
  • Experience with leading international research projects.

 

Job Responsibility:

  • Expected to conduct independent, high-quality research related to landscape ecology with the help of remote sensing at national / regional level;
  • Publish scientific papers;
  • Present work at international conferences;
  • Collaboration at the international level;
